Okay, a variation on the preceding meme, taken from [livejournal.com profile] occultatio. The idea is, you get the first few seconds of the song before any lyrics start, and you have to try and identify the song from that much introduction. Okay, so with "cheating" (that is, directed research with itunes), 8 is from Les Mis: "Stars." Still can't figure out #6, though, even though it still absolutely sounds like something from Into the Woods. It's not the opening of any of the songs that I can tell, though, despite it sharing the musical theme. Is it from something else entirely?

14 is really recognizable, but it's hard to get from the intro to the words. (I saw his answer, so I know now.)

I'm pretty sure I recognize 22 as a pop song of some sort, but of course, since I can't actually say what song it is, I could be wrong.

So, here's the thing about 14: I don't think it's a very good song, so I don't listen to it when it comes up on shuffle. The only part I hear regularly is that first little bit, and my iTunes shows me through cover art that it's from Ragtime, so that one piece of intro is associated with the show, and that's it.

The other thing is, it doesn't actually sound that much like the rest of the song, or at least not enough to extrapolate from just that portion.

So, this is hard. No. 11 sounds to me like the beginning to "Send In The Clowns", A Little Night Music of course, but I can't believe noone would have gotten it if it were that. No. 12 sounds to me like the opening of "Twin Soliloquies (Wonder How I'd Feel)" from South Pacific, but I am far from certain. Nos. 14, 16 and 20 are on the tip of my tongue/ear; nos. 25 and 26 do not inspire familiarity at all. OY VAY!
