I think that, had I not taken the time to call Amtrak and tell them that, since my flight to Newark was delayed, I had missed my train from Newark and needed to be rebooked onto the next one, I actually would have made it to the train I thought I had missed, since it was also delayed, and not had to pay $52 to rebook my ticket.

...And after all that, my ticket wasn't even checked until after Trenton, meaning I could have gotten to Philly on my old ticket anyway.

Surprised they charged you to reboot. Back in college when I took the train a lot I would often just mail back my tickets for refunds - they always gave full refunds.
