Observe:

The Falcon Carol.
"Louie Louie".

It's not just that the Falcon Carol has this refrain "Lully, Lulley", which is very reminiscent of the refrain "Louie Louie". It's also the case that the (nearly unintelligible) actual lyrics of "Louie Louie" can match the Falcon Carol lyrics pretty well in scansion. Compare "And on that ship, I dream she's there / I smell the roses in her hair" to "And in that hall there was a bed / 'Twas hung around with gold so red", for example.

So clearly we need a SSA choir to perform (or record?) "Louie Louie" to the tune of the Falcon Carol. Who's up for it? I know that both [livejournal.com profile] midnight_sidhe and I have sheet music for the Falcon Carol, and I suspect at least one or two more of you do as well; so availability of music should not be a problem.

And... go!

Tangentially, the Corpus Christi carol is already half of the best choral mash-up of all time: Britten remixed it with "In the Bleak Mid-winter".
