Another strange encounter

D. and I happened to get home at the same time today. On the way into the house, he asked me "What is laughter?"

I asked him if this was some kind of metaphorical question, and he said no, he's really interested in what laughter is, because he thinks it's something he needs to get better at. And when I was on my way up the stairs, I swear I heard him practicing laughing to himself at the kitchen table.

Also: He now seems to have two brand-new copies of Frog and Toad Are Friends lying around the living room. It was bizarre enough when he had just one. This is in addition to the two new books about apologizing.
