A lyrics meme
Mar. 16th, 2011 08:53 pmBeen a long time since I've done a song lyrics quiz meme! Taken this time from
midnight_sidhe.
What follows are the first lines of 30 randomly selected songs (excluding ones whose titles appear in the first line, of course, and ones with no lyrics; no more than one supposed to be from a given album, though apparently I wasn't actually paying a lot of attention to that in making the list). Post your guesses below; Googling, of course, is cheating.
EDIT: Since there are in fact some that are on the same album, and I said I wouldn't do that, I've added #31, #32, and #33 as a bonus. UPDATE: all have been identified at least once except #1, #3, #5, #14, and #32. Good going so far!
There's some tough ones here!

There's some tough ones here!
- You can think up some birds. That's what you can do.
- Who can take the trash out, stomp it down for you...?
- We shall walk again down along the lane....
- When you are as old as I, my dear (and I hope that you never are)...
- It's been hot, also very sweet...
- The minute you walked in the joint...
- This is the part of the song that's really quiet.
- Hawks and crows do lots of things...
- Some times in our lives, we all have pain...
- Velvet I can wish you for the collar of your coat...
- My question is about the body frame.
- Start spreadin' the news.
- Daddy started out in San Francisco...
- Even without our help, look at the way he won!
- Life's full of glamour and sparkle and zest!
- God lift me up in mighty waters...
- I do believe you've laid a curse on North America...
- The sun comes up; I think about you.
- The average unmarried female, basically insecure...
- I like tacos... I like tacos...
- There's no sun up in the sky, and the birds forgot to sing...
- This step is once again our first.
- I am going to the Lordy; I am so glad!
- Behind the hill, there's a busy little still...
- Everything has its season...
- My baby don't mess around, because she loves me so...
- May the Lord protect and defend you.
- No man, no madness, though their sad power may prevail...
- Boy, boy, crazy boy...
- Ground control to Major Tom...
- Hey, hobo man, hey, Dapper Dan, you've both got your style...
- You are a splendid butterfly.
- What a dream I had, pressed in organdy...

Date: 2011-03-17 02:01 am (UTC)Since "More I Cannot Wish You" and "Adelaide's Lament" are both from Guys and Dolls, I've added a 31st clue at the bottom.
As for #30—I would indeed believe you don't know the name of it! If I didn't know better, I'd think the title was "Major Tom", but if it were I obviously wouldn't have put it on the list.
