Wrong town

The venue of the bar mitzvah reception I went to this weekend, and the home of the relatives I was staying with, both have mailing addresses in Matawan NJ 07747, and neither of them is within the boundaries of the borough of Matawan, and that kind of thing DRIVES ME UP THE WALL

I have for all my life been peeved by people/entities who write my hometown mailing address as Schenectady NY 12309 despite it not being in Schenectady. It made more sense when the local post office was actually just within the Schenectady city boundary, but that was when I was a little kid. The current post office is definitely not in Schenectady, but USPS look up still lists the post office address as Schenectady. (The ZIP code region does include parts of Schenectady, as well as a little bit of Colonie, but the majority of the population lives in Niskayuna.)

But nobody is proud of having a Schenectady mailing address anymore, so it's only outsiders and automated systems that do this. And the mailing address is hard to spell either way....
