I almost pulled the quick-change con in reverse on myself today.

The quick-change con is when you pay for something with a large bill, and then say something like "oh, while you've got the register open, could you give me a twenty for these four fives?" or whatever, and in the confusion of swapping bills back and forth you make the cashier lose track of whether they've given you your change for your original purchase, and so you get more change back than is due you.

What happened to me today is, I gave the cashier three five-dollar bills, and then I thought better of it and said "oh actually I need fives; while you've got the register open can you give me four fives for this twenty?" and then out of the four fives she gave me in change, I tried to give her three of them, because, in the confusion of swapping bills back and forth, I'd lost track of the fact that I'd already actually paid for my purchase.

Fortunately for me, the cashier wasn't a con artist, noticed the confusion, and gave me back the extra $15 I'd given her.
