The TTC website provides service alerts to let you know that, for example, one of the subway lines is partially closed for maintenance this weekend.

It also provides a trip planner to calculate for you the best TTC route from one place to another.

Sadly, the trip planner doesn't take into account current line closings when coming up with a route. I know the best route involves taking the Yonge line, TTC; if that part of the Yonge line weren't closed today, I wouldn't have needed to use the trip planner at all.

I had this very problem with NJTransit today; I ended up driving to a hub about twelve miles away, past the construction work being done, because the site's trip planner had lied to me about when trains would be running at my local station due to lack of integration with the service alerts.

Still managed to make it onto my train with a solid three minutes of slack.
