I always feel like I'm getting away with something when I submit a travel funding reimbursement form for a trip on which I drove. One reason I drive is because it's cheaper than flying; but I'm getting reimbursed roughly the same amount for driving as I would have spent on plane tickets. (And I know, wear and tear on the car, plus time spent driving when I otherwise could have been working or resting; but still.)

That's even higher than the rate at which Americans are reimbursed. One of the people I went to grad school with was reimbursed at ¢55/mile and his advisor had to tell him not to volunteer to drive.
