Monday evening I got a phone call from the Beverly, Mass. police department. It seems a tree had fallen on my parents' house during the storm. My parents were (fortunately) out of town at the time, and the police were trying to notify them of what had happened—and apparently the police department has my cell phone number, but not my parents'.

Anyway, I gave them my parents' phone numbers, and Wednesday morning after my parents got home from St. Louis they told me... it was my room the tree had fallen on:

I didn't have that much that I valued in there—obviously most of the things I care about are here in Philly—but there are some. In the bottom center of that picture you can see a poster from my first Noteables concert; and from where the roof is caved in it looks like it fell exactly on top of the stuffed animals I had when I was little. My parents said that once they've actually got the eight tons of tree moved off the top of the house they'll see what they can salvage from in there. The impact was intense enough that my sister's room, right below mine, got its ceiling punctured as well. The tree also damaged the house's heating and water systems, so they can't even stay in the less-damaged part of the house until some repairs take place.

Thanksgiving's in three weeks; I'm guessing we might not be hosting it this year. I'm not even sure where I'm going to stay when I'm up there.
