So I'm thinking it might be time to uninstall my window air conditioner for the season. Not because it's gotten cold yet or anything—I like having it there in the window for the sake of the fan, if not the actual air conditioning. But it seems like at least twice a week for the last month or so, I've been hearing what sounds like a squirrel, or something, trying to climb in my window around the edges of the air conditioner. One time I caught sight of such a squirrel, climbing up between the inner and outer panes of the window. Obviously no squirrels have actually made it into my room, since there's not much gap space between the air conditioner and the window frame and the air conditioner is certainly too large for a squirrel to be able to move out of the way. But sitting at my desk and hearing critters scrabbling away at the edges of my window to try and get in is very disconcerting, and I'll have much more peace of mind when that window is actually closed.
