I'm going to be on The Daily Circuit on Minnesota Public Radio tomorrow at 11:40am Central time, talking about the Northern Cities Shift again.

Apparently public radio producers decide what topics to have segments on by looking at the trending articles on Slate?

At approximately that time tomorrow, I gather that I will be at a school district-organized "spirit" event in which all the teachers are made to dance to Abba before(/as price for) being given a picnic lunch.

But I hope your interview goes better than your last one! MPR is generally a pretty good station.

Great! I'm currently applauding the Building and Grounds Department to the hit tune of "Takin' Care of Business" by Bob Seger!

I... what.... wow. Is life with your school district always rather zany and surrreal, or do they save it all up for this "spirit" event?

That is an excellent interview -- congratulations! Wouldn't surprise me at all if you start giving a lot of these. It sounded like he meant it about maybe having you back.

Judging by the other teachers' reactions (and, previously, dread) I gather it's mostly about this one event, although they seem to generally have mixed opinions about the high-level administrators.

(For instance: one of the elementary schools jumped 30% in the past year in the number of their students who are proficient in reading! And all they had to do was completely cut social studies and almost all science education!)
