For years it's struck me as not only disappointing but downright surprising that there isn't a student dance group at the University of Maryland called "Terpsichore".
I'm much worse than that: I actually can't get it through my head that "Terps" doesn't stand for "Terpsichore". I mean, I know it doesn't. But when asked what it does stand for, I have to go through "Terpsichore! No, wait, not Tersichore...uh...surely I can remember this if I try..." And I've lived here for more than 2 years.
