The wind turbines visible from the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Somerset are nowhere near as creepy as the ones near Wilkes-Barre. I have no explanation for this.

So, yesterday's drive from Ann Arbor to Philadelphia was, I'm pretty sure, the longest one-day road trip I've ever done. I was oddly charmed to see signs along the road announcing when I was moving between the watershed regions of different river systems. I made it home in ten and a half hours exactly including rest stops, which I think is pretty impressive; and for some reason, I seem to have taken notes on the progress I made.

8:41am: leaving Ann Arbor, Mich., heading south.
9:18am: entering Ohio.
9:42am: merging onto Ohio Turnpike, Interstate 80.
10:06–10:40am: rest stop for breakfast, Commodore Perry service plaza.
12:00 noon: crossing from St. Lawrence River watershed to Mississippi River watershed.
12:17pm: Ohio Turnpike becomes Interstate 76.
12:36pm: entering Pennsylvania; Interstate 76 becomes Pennsylvania Turnpike.
1:20–2:15pm: rest stop for lunch and gasoline, Oakmont Plum service plaza.
3:22pm: crossing from Mississippi River to Chesapeake Bay watershed.
5:02–5:36pm: rest stop for ice cream, Highspire service plaza.
6:14pm: crossing from Chesapeake Bay to Delaware River watershed.
6:37pm: leaving Pennsylvania Turnpike (staying on Interstate 76).
7:11pm: home.
