Drill drill

Drilling noises coming from the living room! I go downstairs and find D. trying to drill a series of small holes in a board of some kind. He says: "I want to saw the end of this board, but we don't have a saw. So I'm using a drill!" I say: "It's not 5:00 yet, and there's a hardware store at 45th & Walnut. Why not buy a saw?" He allows as how that sounds like a good idea and stops drilling, anyway, though he hasn't yet actually gone to buy a saw. So now I suppose he has a board with a couple of small holes in it?

This isn't the first time he's tried this scheme, either.
