That happened to me two weeks ago with a pay washer in my apartment's basement. When the repair people came (the following morning) they said it was due to an imbalance. I don't know if you have your own personal dryer or if this is in your apartment complex's basement or something? In my case, the washer was auto-locked, but the repair people told me that unplugging it for 5 mins would cause it to unlock. Anyway, good luck.
I thiiink what happened is, the dryer tries to automatically estimate how long it will take to dry the clothes based on, like, temperature and humidity inside the barrel, or something? But if the load of laundry is bigger and wetter than expected, it may have to revise the estimate up. It did finish eventually.
